What odds are and how to convert them into probability
Odds are the price of an outcome. In the decimal format that 888starz uses by default they show how many times the stake grows on a win: 1.85 on a home win means 185,000 UZS for every 100,000 UZS. It is more useful, though, to read them differently — as the probability the bookmaker has assigned to that outcome. One formula: probability = 1 ÷ odds. 1.85 is 54%, 2.50 is 40%, 4.00 is 25%.
That reading turns ‘is it worth it?’ into something measurable: if you think a team’s chances are higher than the line says, the odds are valuable to you; if lower, you are overpaying. The table above helps estimate both the probability and the payout quickly.
The 888 stars bet margin: how much the bookmaker builds into the line
Add up the probabilities of all outcomes of one market and you get more than 100%. For a typical football match at 1.85 / 3.60 / 4.20 that is 54% + 28% + 24% = 106%. The extra six percent is the margin: the bookmaker’s income built into the price regardless of the result. The lower the margin, the fairer the odds for the player.
The margin at 888starz, as at any bookmaker, varies by market: lower on top matches and main outcomes, higher on exotic markets and minor leagues. A simple rule: before betting on a rare market, calculate its margin; a double-digit figure is a sign the price is not in your favour.

Odds formats in 888starz and how to switch them
Settings offer one of three formats. Decimal (1.85) is universal: the payout equals the stake multiplied by the odds. Fractional (17/20) shows the ratio of net win to stake and is common in British sources. American (−118 / +250) states how much you need to stake to win 100, or how much 100 units of stake bring. If you compare lines on English-language sites, switching format saves mental arithmetic; for everyday betting, decimal is the most convenient.
Where to look for value: comparison and line movement
Value is a situation where the odds are higher than the real probability justifies. It is hard to spot by eye, but two techniques work. The first is comparison: the same match is priced differently on different sites, and the difference in odds on popular outcomes is visible in a minute. The second is line movement: odds that fall in the hours before a match mean money and news are heading that way; rising odds mean the opposite. At 888starz the line opens in advance, so movement can be tracked simply by coming back to the match later.
Do not confuse value with a ‘sure thing’: even a correctly priced outcome at 54% loses almost half the time. Value works over the long run, not in a single bet.

Betting limits and maximum payout
Every market has a maximum stake and a maximum payout; they depend on the sport, tournament and popularity of the event. The slip shows the limit as you enter an amount and will not let you stake more. There is a lower bound too — the minimum stake in soums is small and suits a first try. All restrictions and the settlement procedure are published in the operator’s betting rules, which also set out when a bet is returned at odds of 1 (match cancelled, technical failure) or resettled (an obvious error in the line).
Odds and bonuses: why the 1.4 mark matters
The 888starz bonus terms are tied to odds. The Welcome Sport package (200% on four deposits) and the 25% bonus on Humo or Uzcard deposits are wagered with accumulators of three or more events, each at odds of at least 1.4. The weekly 3% cashback on Tuesdays counts lost bets at odds from 1.5. Knowing this makes building a slip easier: three events at 1.4 give combined odds of 2.74, and those are exactly the accumulators that move the wagering along.
